What if it could be
That an ordinary woman like me
Could make a leap and a try
And suddenly – I could fly?
I’d kick up and swim through the air
Far above all the creatures down there
I might cup my head and float
Or streak through a cloud mass and gloat
Not caring about what’s below
Leave behind everything I know
An observer who may lay claim
A visitor with no worries or name.
I’m tethered by chains I have wrought
And I’d miss all the friends I have got
But I still feel the longing to try,
To make the leap, and perhaps, I would fly.
